Or just install this, and the package manager will remove epy-git for you.

Got it !

So I'll just uninstall epy-git and install epy-ereader-git then.

I am the maintainer of epy-git. I plan to merge it into this one (effectively a package name change). There is no epy package because epy does not make versioned releases. It is customary to refer to non-git versions of the name, in case they are created later.

The packages will coexist for a short time to give the upstream project time to update the readme. Then epy-git will be removed from the AUR.

The replaces line will then serve to notify users of the change, and it will eventually be dropped from the package.

I'm confused about this PKGBUILD "epy-ereader-git"

It looks exactly the same as "epy-git", https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/epy-git.

The "Description" is exactly the same,

 Description:   CLI Ebook Reader

Only thing different is,

  replaces=(
    'epy'
    'epy-git'
  )

What is the point exactly ? Also there is currently no PKGBUILD named "epy" in the AUR.

This package will be merged into epy-ereader-git. This is basically just a package name change. Upstream documentation has already been updated.

epy-git will eventually be merged into this package.

core/python has been upgraded to 3.11.3. Delete old package files and rebuild.
