Correct. The new version works great without any workaround. :-)

Good point, however the workaround should no longer be required with Service Pack 1214, for either version.

unshare -r -n textmaker24 in case for this AUR build (non-NX)

Thanks for sharing, satirebird, I've pinned your comment until this is fixed upstream.

@satirebird: Thanks, this workaround works :-) - in my case: unshare -r -n textmaker24

softmaker can be started by disable the network for the process. It works for me:

unshare -r -n textmakernx

or

unshare -r -n planmakernx

@galvez_65 Thank you for the solution. I'm sure it will work, but I am not really willing to mess with my system, as I'm not such a technical savvy to understand the solution. Given what you found and how you solved it, what I'm thinking is that the issue may not be with Softmaker Office itself, but with openssl. Maybe reporting an issue here is worth it: https://github.com/openssl/openssl/issues Or, could it be the way the openssl is packaged under Arch Linux, and the maintainer needs to be notified?

@panman Thank you for the hint on what the issues is. it looks like the culprit is the latest version of openssl. what I did was download openssl 3.2.1 and put the content under /opt/openssl_321, then edited the script to include env LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/openssl_321/lib <executable>. This works without having to kill my wifi. hopefully softmaker will fix this in the next build.

I looked at the entire thread here: https://forum.softmaker.de/viewtopic.php?p=151747 I did follow what the people report there. If I have access to the internet (I have only a Wi-Fi), a blank window shows for a short moment, then disappears. If I turn off the Wi-Fi and try again, a blank window shows up with error dialog on top. If I cancel it, the application loads normally with the document I want. Turning on the Wi-Fi after that is OK, the window stays and the application is fully functional. Looking what the people reported and the logs they provided in the German forum makes me think it is a problem with the recent update of the openssl package. My troubles with this started on Monday morning when I updated my system which included openssl. Will wait for the mainstream update, until then - Wi-Fi on and off limbo... huh...
