@ruario
You are right. I have forgot to check pluginpath.ini file.
Thanks for reporting.
Updated PKGBUILD.
No need for the sed commands on usr/share/opera/defaults/pluginpath.ini as those paths are already present. ;)
@Dominik: you can use the opera-g4 package instead in the mean time. It will give you the latest Qt4 package or use opera-g3 if you want Qt3. The G numbers refer to Opera generation numbers.
The new Opera 10.10 ist out.

@Fraterius: start opera with the -systemstyle switch:
http://my.opera.com/ruario/blog/2009/11/09/qt-styles
Yes ruario that's exactly my issue, I've switched to version 10.10RC (build 4720), and everything works great, although opera uses now some other qttheme, and don't know why, but that's not so important, thx guys for all the answers.
http://my.opera.com/ruario/blog/2009/09/28/which-version#static
@cyberpatrol: That is bundled not static. Opera don't produce static builds. Look at the URL in the PKGBUILD for the link you provided.
Here's the statical linked package: opera-qt4 (http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=16610)
@Fraterius: There is no statically linked package ;)

Your bug sounds like this:
http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=283139
Would you consider it them same? If so post there. If not log a bug report.
Today's 10.10RC (build 4720) includes a fix for the Qt 4.5.3 issue and is quite stable.
http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/blog/2009/11/13/a-lucky-build
2Fraterius:
You can install 'opera-devel-qt4' (bug has been fixed).
http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=15228
Ok thx a lot, I've switched to Opera with statically linked qt libraries and that should do for now, until they'll fix the bug.
Please check if you have qt-4.5.3. If so, you should apply this workaround http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=633085#p633085 , at least, until either a new qt or opera version is released.
Regards! :)
Do you have some issues with this version of opera and latest gnome? I haven't updated my arch for a long time, and after last update my opera start acting weird. It's like it freezes, I can't close any tab, or do anything but quit the program. In that state scrolling also acts weird, I can't explain it, it's something like random speed and direction of scrolling.
EDIT:
Ok I've noticed that mostly if not only it happens on pages with google-ads, and opera can't load some script from google-ads, any ideas how to solve it, did someone noticed something similar?
In the end it's probably not fault of the gnome, but some opera's bug.
I installed the latest version of qt through pacman (4.5.3-3) and then installed the opera-snapshot through yaourt (4665-1) and all seems well. There are a few glitches with registering mouse-clicks though.
I had a few problems. The first was Opera not finding libjvm.so or libawt.so (fixed with some .bashrc exports) The other remains a mystery to me:
$ opera
/usr/lib/opera/10.10/opera: error while loading shared libraries: libQtGui.so.4: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32
qt version: 4.5.2-7 (version I had/have when opera PKGBUILD was used)
@sxtynnmach1
I have sent you my local copy to your personal email address.
@Everyone else
You can get it from http://www.2shared.com/file/8986608/2045c015/qt-452-7-i686pkgtar.html .Click on the right bottom link saying "Save file to your PC: click here" within the box. Once downloaded, you should verify its integrity, using at least one of the following options:
[musikolo@MyPc ~]$ md5sum qt-4.5.2-7-i686.pkg.tar.gz
00b951c759ab5cffaae214cd6f0d5feb qt-4.5.2-7-i686.pkg.tar.gz
[musikolo@MyPc ~]$ shasum qt-4.5.2-7-i686.pkg.tar.gz
eeb2c5a71849850428b83dbef96975d6ef29508b qt-4.5.2-7-i686.pkg.tar.gz
I hope it helps.
Best regards! :-)
I just installed a new Arch system and unfortunately didn't have a cached version of a qt downgrade. I did manually install Opera from the opera website, but it uses qt3. Manageable but ugly.
Just a note for others without the qt downgrade option.
New PKGBUILD.
You also need 'opera.desktop' file from above files of old PKGBUILD.
Qt 4.5.3 specific bug don't fixed at this at this release.
Use old Qt or workaround from http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=637288

now it looks like opera-qt4-theme.patch is not needed anymore

I had my entire home deleted after kill -KILL <opera-pid> and then relaunching opera. Very strange behavior.
Ok, Opera have a look at the Qt problem.
Comment at the opera forum (http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=294599):
"Thanks for the feedback. The bug number is DSK-267319 to avoid anyone having to log it again."
Hope that they will fix it as soon as possible.
I haven't tried opera with qt 4.5.3 yet, but I think a bug report should be filed to upstream, so that they probably can rebuild opera.
The same problem here. With qt-4.5.3-1 it freezes sometimes, with older 4.5.2-7 works perfectly.
I join the previous one author. Pages does not load up to 100% and the CPU load increases from 50 to 100% (process Opera).

Sorry for duplicate, tried to delete comment in order to edit wording but it seems that deleting comments is broken. Will report.
DON'T upgrade to qt-4.5.3-1 if you are using this version of Opera! It stops working, gets randomly stuck in the middle of loading pages or even before showing anything. Downgrading to qt-4.5.2-7 fixed the problem for me.

Oh, i missed to update x86_64 sources. Thank you for reporting and another PKGBUILD update.
Getting the same error as wellington. The build dies here:

ok, thanks for reminding me regarding the base-devel after searching I realized it was ed and patch after installing everything was wonderful. Thanks for the help and PKGBUILD
@edar.blanco:
Regarding the patch problem: Do you have the package patch or even better the group base-devel installed? If not, just run `pacman base-devel`.
Regarding the sed problem: It looks like you somehow have changed the default directories for $startdir and $pkgdir, if this is possible, or just saved the package into your home directory. Maybe you should save this tar file into /var/abs/local, untar it there, cd to /var/abs/local/opera and run makepkg from there. I'd suggest using aurbuild or yaourt.
hello people after trying to make a build error is:
~/compiled/ope/opera/pkg/usr/bin ~/compiled/ope/opera/src/opera-10.00-4585.gcc4-qt4.i386
/home/edar/compiled/opera/opera/PKGBUILD: line 33: patch: command not found
Then change the line in the PKGBUILD
patch -Np0 -i ${startdir}/src/opera-qt4-theme.patch || return 1
for
patch -Np0 -i ${startdir}/pkg/opera-qt4-theme.patch || return 1
the problem is this: sed: no input files /home/edar/compiled/ope/opera/PKGBUILD: line 33: usr/share/opera/defaults/pluginpath.ini: Permission denied
Maybe you should send opera-qt4-theme.patch to upstream via their bug tracker or the forums.
But I have to admit, that Opera looks better without the patch, at least if it's used with Opera's standard theme.
opera-qt4-theme.patch is not applied, because it's applied in $srcdir and not in $pkgdir.
To apply it correctly, please, change the line
patch -Np0 -i ${startdir}/src/opera-qt4-theme.patch || return 1
in the PKGBUILD to
patch -Np0 -i ${startdir}/pkg/opera-qt4-theme.patch || return 1
or something like that.
And, btw., you should use $srcdir instead of ${startdir}/src and $pkgdir instead of ${startdir}/pkg.
Yes it is java related but I have the latest jdk 6u16-1 and jre 6u16-1 installed.
I removed opera and recompiled it again from AUR.
The md5sum check said that one file didn't match /usr/share/opera/default/pluginpath.ini. I don't know why.
Then moved ~/.opera away again and it worked. Removed the created ~/,opera and put my old .opera dir there any it works now.
Maybe Opera changed some settings and my first build didn't converted them correct at the first time.
Thanks for the opera PKDBUILD.
libjvm.so and libawt.so look like they are Java related. It seems you have an issue with your Java installation or settings in conjunction with the new Opera version. Maybe your Java package just needs to be reinstalled or recompiled.
If I try to start opera I get this error:
ERROR: ld.so: object 'libjvm.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored.
ERROR: ld.so: object 'libawt.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored.
With the old opera 9.64 I didn't had this problem.
If i move my ~/.opera away that it could create a new .opera directory it works. I try to find the problem and post it here how to fix it.
Opera replaced their application icon, here's a link for the icon to replace opera_logo48.png with:
http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/6402/operalogo48.png
Updated to 10.00 version.
Hannd and vit, your md5sum is wrong for the main download for i686. Redownloaded several times, my download sums to 0b484b74ee07e5ac93f153dd33e25437.
maybe start using the opera-qt4 package and use the opera-qt3 for the qt3 build
10 is out :)

Thnx for this useful pack. But there is a problem with icon in kde.
Please add to PKGBUILD:
install -D -m 644 ${startdir}/src/opera_logo48.png ${startdir}/pkg/usr/share/icons/hicolor/48x48/apps/opera.png
and replace line opera.desktop
Icon=opera
I have adopted this package for future releases. If you developers want to return to the community i will orphan it for trusted users or something.
This package is the official one from the [extra] repository. We have to move it because of a unclear license issue. After we have clarify this issue the package will be back in the repos or not. It should not be moved to community, because of the license.
