It's wiser to rebuild this package than it is to symbolically link between major library versions.

"sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libjpeg.so.8.0.0 /usr/lib/libjpeg.so.7" appears to work.

libjpeg got update to version 8. When I run quanta, it gives "quanta: error while loading shared libraries: libjpeg.so.7: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory", anyone has a work around for this?

The reason for error is "/opt/kde/bin/kde-config --prefix" returns '', it returns '' because it could not find some libraries,
run the following command try to build again
sudo ldconfig /usr/qt/lib/

configure: error: /opt/kde/bin/kde-config --prefix outputed the non existant prefix '' for kdelibs.
This means it has been moved since you installed it.
This won't work. Please recompile kdelibs for the new prefix.

I have tried reinstalling kdelibs3 Same error. The strange thing is that:
[gert@vind ~]$ /opt/kde/bin/kde-config --prefix
/opt/kde

So I dont get whats wrong, and why makepkg think it outputs ''.

It looks like the main KDE FTP site is currently down. Here is a list of mirrors: http://www.kde.org/mirrors/

Where is release 3.5.10? The URL in the PKGBUILD did not work for me, and on the web I only found 3.5.9.

3.5.10 seems to work fine just by changing the version at the top. if you are concerned about the md5sum of the new version, I got "7188f351158ca5a7613c3de4a6854b37"

Thanks a lot Pierre... I just did not have the time to do it myself :)
