@blitux:
It is long since abandoned, I think. I managed to fix the clock thing for myself several months ago, but I can't recall how. It was a relatively easy fix, though (my code experience isn't broad, and I managed to do it). I'll look at it again some time soon and post back.
Is this project abandoned? There is a bug that not updates the system clock, causing the hwclock to not being set correctly.
This is a great package, love it !
One question : is it possible to somehow modify the HOOKS as in mkinitcpio ? I'm asking because I installed Arch on my external hard drive and I need to add the USB HOOK in mkinitcpio in order for me to boot (using regular boot). I cannot use finit-arc because it does not "see" my usb external drive when booting.
Thx a Lot.
It seems like a really cool project, however I cannot say that I gain any notably speed difference. I use a custom compiled kernel stripped of most but the essential modules.
Git version for testers is avaiable now:

0.2-2[beta] (20090505)
- Added vc/0 and vc/3
- Fixed making block devices from fstab
You must replace in /sbin/bootchartd the line init="/sbin/init" with init="/sbin/finit-arc".
Then add init=/sbin/bootchartd on your kernel line
if we have to add /sbin/finit-arc to our bootline, how do we go about using bootchart with this?

For default I open only 2 virtual consoles

This is not the BETA 3 but the revision 3 of the first beta version. For this reason I'm using only - revision number, becouse the version is the same, BETA 1.
For default I open only 2 virtual consoles
Hi !
Everything works flawlessly here, except one thing: if I try to use kdm in finittab, X don't start and I get this in kdm.log:
xf86OpenConsole: Cannot open virtual console 7 (No such file or directory)
I work around this by putting level:sleep 2 && /usr/bin/kdm -nodaemon, but these 2 seconds are lost ;) Any idea ?
Hi there, I have been playing with finit-arc and I'm really impressed on the boot times. I still cant get less than 10 seconds though, but I'm booting into a full blown KDE 4 in my netbook :)
Besides thanking you for the work you are doing, I wanted to comment on the versioning of the package.
You should numerate the package as: 0.1.3 not 0.1-3, the - (minus) is used for packaging versions, not application versions.
I know you are the developer of finit-arc, so I understand that you enumerate it 0.1-3 as the third beta, though it would be better if you use the dots instead, so the package is identified as an upgrade on the software, no just a rebuild.
Regards!
