ro in menu.lst was just a stupid goof barriers were a more subtle problem - best to do everything explicitly here barrier=0 means turn them OFF, which means MORE FAILSAFE filesystem these journaling settings may prove to be bad, but we will try them.

Cosmetic changes to config, only. New file, guide to updating, hopefully will make this less intimidating. Did not incorporate the ext[234] config - wait until patch is upstream?

This has been in use for a while, only committing it now to simplify stage for further commits kernel.org is back up and we use the base + patch system again Sublevel is now EXTRAVERSION There's some new packaging logic from the vanilla PKGBUILD - sets up an "extramodules" dir, I don't remember the reasoning but whatevs I hand-edited the new config a little just to make the commit look cleaner

I had believed 3.0.4 was the same as 3.1-rc4, which was stupid. Linus' github repo does NOT track or offer the STABLE releases - those are done elsewhere So we must use a 3rd-party mirror.
