I detected the issue. See my comment in acestream-player-data package insted.

alejandro.perez commented on 2015-05-06 20:45

Recently, I'm getting problems for playing X264 streams. Has anyone else notice?

elmuz commented on 2015-03-27 18:52

@cobalt, it works now! Thank you.
Maybe 'qtwebkit' needs to be included - at least - in the optional dependencies...

cobalt commented on 2015-03-23 09:08

Try to install qtwebkit package first:

pacman -S qtwebkit

Try "acestreamplayer -v" or "acestreamplayer -vv" to see what the problem is. First 2 messages about no suitable interface module and globalhotkeys are not the problem, I have them too, but GUI works ok.

elmuz commented on 2015-03-21 21:55

@cobalt thank you.
Anyway I still have problems launching the GUI. It still complains about a suitable interface:

You have to start acestream-engine first:
"systemctl start acestream-engine.service"
or/and
"systemctl enable acestream-engine.service" for autostart.
Or you can manually start in with "acestreamengine" command.

usommerl commented on 2015-03-20 10:51

@cobalt Thanks a lot!

cobalt commented on 2015-03-19 21:04

Fixed. I added old version of libx264 as dependency for acestream-player-data.

usommerl commented on 2015-03-17 20:56

The player refuses to play H264 streams. The error message is:

'No suitable decoder module:
VLC does not support the audio or video format "h264". Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this.'

According to "acestream-player -vv" the player is looking for the shared objects file libx264.so.142 but the current version (2:144.20150223-1) of the libx264 package installs libx264.so.144

cobalt commented on 2015-01-20 01:21

This is strange, libgcrypt15 is a dependency of acestream-player-data and it should be installed. If you have had that error maybe you just did not update acestream-player-data package? Anyway, I don't see any changes needed to be made in packages.

WAAAGH.313ph4n7 commented on 2015-01-19 23:03

@Ufo28: had the same error, installing libgcrypt15 solved it.

cobalt commented on 2015-01-10 18:48

I can not reproduce this error. Try to run "acestreamplayer -v" to get more details.

I guess you didn't install new version of acestream-player-data or have incorrectly uninstalled old one. New version of acestream-player should be "VLC media player 2.1.4 Ace Stream (revision 2.1.4-0-g2a072be)". Looks like you have older version installed, since you have "VLC media player 1.1.12 ACE Stream".

python-m2crypto should be dependency of acestream-engine, not acestream-player.

linuxJay commented on 2014-11-04 17:32

To get this to connect with the engine I needed community/python2-m2crypto

many thnks @uplink! Selecting gender and age with the keyboard seems to fix the problem!

uplink commented on 2014-06-29 18:20

The solution to "to start watching specify your gender and age acestream linux ..." is doing with de keyboard selection, for some reason when you try to click on it the application is close (freeze).. looking the application with Alt+tab and then select all options with keyboard...

good look

caramilk commented on 2014-06-21 12:42

Try to use openbox if the popup disappears when you click on it, it happens on me too if I'm using KDE.

With openbox that dialog doesn't disappear.

harbind commented on 2014-04-19 05:27

That disappearing popup prevents playing anything. Can someone that have this working check where and what it writes about those age and gender settings.

Scimmia commented on 2014-04-15 18:40

If you're going to flag out-of-date, provide a link to a newer version.

rashtao commented on 2014-03-16 15:14

As I click on the popup window asking
"to start watching specify your gender and age acestream linux ..."
the popup disappears and the applications hangs.

Is it possible to fix or to avoid that popup appear?

HNKNTA commented on 2014-01-28 19:11

@ValdikSS: how to change demuxer?

WeissJT commented on 2014-01-14 04:36

Anyone else having trouble with subtitles?
I can load subtitles. But they aren't showing at all during playback.
Already tried changing subtitle enconding, font, renderer, and almost every option available related with subtitles.
Relevant debug information from Ace Player:
http://pastebin.com/N4RnEaNy

Arch with stock freetype, fontconfig, etc. Nothing out of ordinary.

On Ubuntu it's working fine.

@stecco, exactly. I wrote to Videolan forums and maillist about that but got no reply. I wrote to acestream developers too and they banned me for this question.

stecco commented on 2013-11-25 11:40

Why does acestream use modified VLC as this player but refuse to provide source code for it?
And there is a mistake in their license agreement. It says that Ace Player HD is provided under the LGPLv2 license, but VLC is GPLv2 and can't be sub-licensed.

ValdikSS commented on 2013-10-19 06:54

You can change demuxer to 'avformat demuxer' and it should work.

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/acestream-player-data/
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/acestream-player/
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/acestream-mozilla-plugin/

Since this is based on VLC, I took a look at the deps of the official VLC package. Any of them that were optional, I moved to optdepends. I also ran objdump through the pkg folder looking for what's needed and what's not, so the deps have changed quite a bit with the new packages. Let me know if anything needs added.

Dganic, tell me what a systemd service file would look like for for the engine and I'll add it.

And once there are issues where the configuration file highlighted, allowing you to specify the settings pathways to the cache, the port and the other, preferably with a full explanation of all the options. Or is it possible to somehow pass these options when you run the client in the form of a console? By the way if you do not plan to include in the package aceengine.service file to run the engine in a console at startup? Do you plan to upgrade to 2.0.8?

Scimmia commented on 2013-02-20 21:10

hmm, I was thinking that nothing in acestream was linked to libx264, that it was only ffmpeg that was so rebuilding should have taken care of that. Let me look into it more.

Scimmia, I've altered the PKGBUILD but now it can't find libx264.so.128 which was updated to libx264.so.129 in the latest ffmpeg. I've tried symlinking, but that doesn't work.

Anonymous comment on 2013-02-20 20:43

Thanks Scimmia. I was just about to post and tell you about the ffmpeg update, but you'd replied by the time I logged in!

Scimmia commented on 2013-02-20 20:40

my bad, I didn't notice that it had gotten pushed out of testing into the main repos.

It's a simple fix, though. At the end of the PKGBUILD change libavutil.* to libavutil.so

madmack commented on 2013-02-20 20:27

Downgrading ffmpeg to ffmpeg-1:1.0.1-1 fixed it for me. the problem was with libavutil.so.51 which the new ffmpeg doesn't have but your acestream-ffmpeg requires. linking .so.51 to the new ffmpeg file doesn't satisfy the version requirements for the acestream-ffmpeg libs so that fails.

madmack commented on 2013-02-20 19:41

Scimmia, I'm not. I tried logging with acestreamplayer -vvv and I can't find any lib or symbolic link errors.

Scimmia commented on 2013-02-19 19:43

madmack, are you running testing? There's an soname bump in ffmpeg in testing that will need a change in the acestream-ffmpeg package.

madmack commented on 2013-02-19 19:39

I'm getting this for some reason:
"
No suitable decoder module:
VLC does not support the audio or video format "h264". Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this.
"

Do you know what the culprit might be?

JLucien commented on 2013-02-08 06:14
