I am disowning this since there have been no commits upstream since 2013. I recommend using the acpi_call-dkms package.

Getting "==> ERROR: url should not be an array" during build.

This issue can be fixed by replacing the line
url=("http://github.com/mkottman/acpi_call")
by
url="http://github.com/mkottman/acpi_call"
in the PKGBUILD-file.

Looks like there's a bug report and a pull request upstream already: https://github.com/mkottman/acpi_call/issues/51 https://github.com/mkottman/acpi_call/pull/49. Looks like upstream might be AWOL.

Got this error after installing:

Building module:
cleaning build area....
make KERNELRELEASE=3.17.0-1-mainline KVER=3.17.0-1-mainline....(bad exit status: 2)
Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel: 3.17.0-1-mainline (x86_64)
Consult /var/lib/dkms/acpi_call/1.1.0/build/make.log for more information.

The make.log showed that the acpi/acpi.h should not be included directly but via linux/acpi.h. The following prepare-function added to the pkgbuild fixes this path.

prepare(){
cd ${srcdir}/acpi_call
sed 's/#include <acpi\/acpi.h>/#include <linux\/acpi.h>/' acpi_call.c > acpi_call.c.new
mv acpi_call.c.new acpi_call.c
}
