Hey there, ph9214

Yes, the program was designed to preserve user changes already in place before installing AdAway, and manual changes you make while AdAway is installed.

However, keep in mind this program is over a year old. I'm looking into completely reprogramming it, as the current setup is outdated and not well implemented.

Happy to see your interest, let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

does this program preserve user changes to hosts when you update the hosts file?

Hey there, luiscuadrado123.

I'm so very sorry I did not get back with you on this, was caught up on other things and didn't get the chance. This is not the same AdAway project found on Android, no, however, it does offer the same functionality. Do note this is a command line program as well, no GUI.

Once AdAway is installed, just run 'adaway update' followed by 'adaway apply'. This will update the ad database as well as apply it to your host file. There are more features you can play around with (view full list of commands with 'adaway --help'), but the version hosted here on the AUR is a little outdated; even my most recent release has some bugs, I just have not got to updating this in some time.

Definitely let me know if you have any further questions and I'll be sure to get to them a lot quicker.
