1.3.1 is out but I'm unable to make a working PKGBUILD, disowning the package.

postblue commented on 2015-06-08 18:15

Adopted the package and reworked it so it's easier to maintain.

I will say to anyone trying to install any non-Humble-bundle versions that you have a decent chance of being able to install if you just edit my humble-bundle version. This one will very likely not work anymore due to a total restructure of the game files.

So I've fixed up all the issues with this PKGBUILD and (hopefully) future-proofed it. Thing is, I only have access to the Humble Bundle version so I've made a separate package here:

I think it's best to have them separated anyway since they're kinda two different packages and most other games are separated like this. I wrote the PKGBUILD to be nearly interchangeable so anyone that wants to update this package could very easily base it off of mine:

1) update the sha256sum for the .sh installer
2) rename the pkgname/accompanying files to match this package name (amnesia-ttd)

If my memory serves, I think that's all that it would take.

Not sure why was this flagged out-of-date.
There are currently two versions of this game that I know of: the original version sold by frictional games on their website, which is 1.2, and the humble indie bundle version, which is 1.2.1-3. This PKGBUILD supports both.
By default it's prepared to build for the 1.2.1-3 version. If you have the 1.2 version, just change the value of pkgver.
Anyway, I'm unflagging it.

And you aren't doing anything fancy like, say, skipping checksum verification?

Anonymous comment on 2012-08-09 02:27

The most recent 1.2.1-3 freshly downloaded from Frictional

Ideka commented on 2012-08-08 03:06

Eh, that's weird. What version are you trying to make?

Getting the following error:

==> Extracting subarchive...
tar (child): subarch: Cannot open: No such file or directory
tar (child): Error is not recoverable: exiting now
tar: Child returned status 2
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now

Ideka commented on 2012-06-30 02:25

Thanks, I didn't know about that. Really useful for big packages, like this one.

gtmanfred commented on 2012-06-22 03:43

you should add PKGEXT='pkg.tar' at the top before build() so that it doesn't have to be compressed with .xz or .gz or anything once it is packaged, just to be unpackaged by pacman right after

neuromancer85 commented on 2012-06-19 19:14

By the way, the update is not publicized under the download button on the HB page, I spotted it just by chance...

neuromancer85 commented on 2012-06-19 19:11

@fzerorubigd: the latest Amnesia HB build is 1.2.1-3, and it does not work with this PKGBUILD without modifications...

fzerorubigd commented on 2012-06-19 18:34

This work with latest humble bundle binary, why out of date?

Ideka commented on 2012-06-09 22:17

Sorry, I don't know about all that. You should ask for help at the official forums:

daenyth commented on 2012-06-09 22:12

And now if I start a new game, it says "loading" and then the screen just stays black. My patience with this game is about shot by now..

daenyth commented on 2012-06-09 21:20

External mouse is better with the sensitivity, but it has the opposite problem.. the cursor is too slow.

daenyth commented on 2012-06-09 21:10

Thanks! Now it doesn't segfault. Two other problems though. The mouse is unplayably sensitive. Even if I set it to the lowest option in the settings, moving less than 1cm on the touchpad pulls the mouse across the entire screen nearly instantly

The second problem is that it doesn't close correctly. When I pick exit from the main menu, it stays open with a black screen and I have to kill it from a console, which leaves X at the game resolution. I'll look around and see if I can find a fix.

Ideka commented on 2012-06-09 20:31

First do
# pacman -S driconf
then run
$ driconf
Click the "Image Quality" tab and activate the first option (it should say something about S3TC).

daenyth commented on 2012-06-09 20:00

How do I do that?

Ideka commented on 2012-06-09 14:46

Have you enabled S3TC? I believe S3TC support is required, so if you haven't, use driconf to enable it.

daenyth commented on 2012-06-09 13:06

I already have both of those on 7.x since my system is a little out of date. At this point I think my card just might not be supported. It would be nice if they gave an actual useful message instead of just crashing. A little disappointing since this was one of the games I got the bundle for. (I have 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07))

Ideka commented on 2012-06-09 02:36

Downgrade intel-dri and libgl to the lastest 7.x version you can find. The 8.x drivers have trouble with Amnesia.

daenyth commented on 2012-06-09 02:34

After I run amnesia-tdd it goes through the intro "how you should play" bit then segfaults. I have a 64bit install with intel graphics. Any fix known?

Ideka commented on 2012-06-07 01:44

@gtmanfred: I'm not using it because I don't know how that works, really.

@mowe: Thanks, PKGBUILD updated.

mowe commented on 2012-06-05 17:31

there is a new version on the humble bundle page. it's "" and the md5 checksum is 9cbc55cceed341a2fa2b50e2f3aa0374.

mowe commented on 2012-06-05 17:30

the file downloaded from the humble indie bundle page is "", so I guess it is a newer version?

gtmanfred commented on 2012-06-05 00:35

is there a reason you are not using the build in pacman.lua file with the .sh file?
I was thinking about trying with the bastion pkgbuild

it seems that sh -u --destdir $pkgdir -l should work shouldn't it?

Ideka commented on 2012-06-01 02:52

PKGBUILD updated to 1.2.1. This seems to be a HIB5-exclusive version, but you can still inistall 1.2 simply by changing the version number in the PKGBUILD.

Atterratio commented on 2011-10-09 20:07

I Love Arch))) So easy instal binary game with PM) Thx for PKGBUILD!

Ideka commented on 2011-07-23 20:05

@vladimir1922: The game is shareware (20 USD). That is the file you download after purchasing it.

vladimir1922 commented on 2011-07-23 10:10
