Why use this legacy version (6.0.1) instead of the latest anydesk-bin?
This package is maintained explicitly for users experiencing usability or stability issues with the newer 6.1.x / 6.3.x releases.
1. No Aggressive Commercial Restrictions The most common reason to downgrade is the "Commercial Use Detected" enforcement.
- No Timeouts: Newer versions frequently flag personal users as commercial, forcing a disconnect every 15 minutes.
- No Waiting Periods: This version avoids the forced "cooldown" timer (often 60+ seconds) required before you can reconnect after a timeout.
2. Linux Stability & Compatibility
- Freezing Issues: Versions 6.1.0 through 6.3.0 have known bugs on various Linux distros where the client freezes upon connection or minimizes incorrectly.
- Wayland/Display Server: 6.0.1 is widely regarded as the most stable build for X11, avoiding the "display server not supported" or black screen errors common in recent updates.
3. Minimal UI (No Bloat)
- This version predates the recent UI overhaul. It does not contain the large banner ads, "Address Book" nags, or forced account login prompts present in v7+.
Note: As this is a frozen legacy version (released ~2020), it will not receive new features or official security patches from AnyDesk. Use strictly for personal convenience.
