PSA: This package is ONLY meant for those owning a PURCHASED Aseprite license. Users who will use this package will have to download the .deb file provided by the Aseprite developers using the link they received upon purchase.

The package is expected to be placed next to the PKGBUILD. Then run makepkg to unpack and install the .deb package. If it still doesn't work, make sure the file name of the .deb file is correct and try again.

Also check out the PKGBUILD itself for a description on the matter.

If you're having issues with the latest version of aseprite (v1.2.28-1), make sure to change the PKGBUILD md5sums to "5062169bd2d4d18a28db3d875a6f1f3d" and the _pkgver to 1.2.28-1.

@FabioLolix I just updated the PKGBUILD with a clearer description. Thanks again! I'll write a PSA to pin to the comment section to clear it up for the next users.

@Lukalot this pkgbuild is for who have purchased aseprite

@delightedcat I guess is the case to update the pkgbuild description and make a pinned post here on AURweb

Thanks for acting so fast.

About the hash sums, there is a command for calculating them which is updpkgsums

Thank you FabioLolix! Great catch. I have made the changes to the PKGBUILD based on your suggestions. It seems like Aseprite provides an MD5 checksum instead of SHA256 which is being used now.

I've also made the new version available as aseprite-bin instead of aseprite-deb. For this reason, I've requested a merge with the new package which can be found here: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/aseprite-bin/

Hello delightedcat, I have revisioned your pkgbuilds fixing several imprecisions, one thing is left; the sha256sums for the source file which I haven't. This pkgbuild need to be renamed aseprite-bin.
