polygamma is not discontinuing aurman, merely closing the public issue tracker because he no longer wishes to deal with the burden of user support or support issues at this time.

So aurman can be expected to continue to work and to do everything it used to do (since it is still maintained), but further improvements will be determined by "whatever polygamma decides to do on his own time", and not by "lemme open a feature request because I want X".

And I assume PR's are still welcome? ;)

Yes, aurman is still going to be developed and it will still be open source. You may surely continue to use it, as long as I am using Arch and thus the AUR, I need a helper, which is aurman.

But for the enduser that is not me, it may be a better choice to use a AUR helper with non-closed GitHub issues. As already said, I would recommend yay.

I'm sorry to hear that. =(

But you will keep releasing new versions of aurman? (I understand you will not listen any suggestion or feature request, but I'm OK with the aurman features and how aurman works right now).

That's a shame, it's always been a very straightforward and useful AUR helper for me (and many others by the looks of it).
