Milohr, the developer of babe, posted a comment below telling me that the repo moved to kde phabricator.
That's why I updated the git clone url to 'git://' as it says on the front phabricator page.

That's the main repo. All others on github are mirrors and they tend to lag behind.
The one you posted below is already three days behind.

Here's the same package in my obs repo fetching from the same url without a problem.

No, no firewall.
On the github page is:
Babe is now hosted and developed at KDE Phabricator not found. Goohle link to

but But it does not matter, my babe is running over

@Amber-Baum I build this package almost daily and it works fine on my local machine and in clean chroot in obs (open build service).
The git clone url in pkgbuild file is the main repo for this project as it says right on that phabricator page you've linked.

Sounds to me more lika a firewall issue blocking git on your end? Try ""?

This is how it works
pkgdesc="Babe will handle your whole music collection, letting you create custom playlists to organize your music."
depends=('knotifications' 'ki18n' 'kconfig' 'qt5-multimedia' 'taglib' 'youtube-dl') # 'qjson')

prepare() {
cd ${pkgname}-${_commit}

#sed -i -e 's|<qjson/parser.h>|<qjson-qt5/parser.h>|' artwork.cpp

build() {
#cd ${pkgname}-${_commit}
mkdir -p build
cd build

cmake ../${pkgname}-${_commit} \

package() {
cd build
#cd ${pkgname}-${_commit}

make DESTDIR=${pkgdir} install

#install -D -m755 Babe ${pkgdir}/usr/bin/babe
#install -D -m644 org.kde.babe.desktop ${pkgdir}/usr/share/applications/org.kde.babe.desktop
install -D -m644 ../${pkgname}-${_commit}/data/babe.svg ${pkgdir}/usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/apps/Babe.svg
If someone has problems.
