to prevent future out of date flags: if you want 2.9.x go to banshee-git.

2.9.x tags from gnome are non usable.

Yes, downgrade mono from 4.8.0.495-1 to mono 4.6.1.3-1 work again

mysterious...

I've also been getting a startup crash recently (output looks like the log that Steven posted.) Research showed that it's caused by upgrading mono from 4.6.1.3-1 to 4.8.0.495-1. Others have said that rolling back mono gets Banshee working again, but I don't know how to get Banshee working with the new version of mono.

It used to work great for me.

Now, after reinstalling (the same version), I get this error:

it does not work. the problem is an upstream one, or rather that the upstream is dead for 3 years.

also you need the taglib-sharp-git to be able to use flac and opus files (the tagging part of use)

Does it need taglib-sharp-git? Works for me with taglib-sharp from [extra]

I need help with mono as gio (and therefor mtp) support does not work.
