@arisudesu I could adopt it, but I don't think it should be in a single PKGBUILD with this one. Unless there is something I could not see, there is no reason for a DKMS package to bump pkgrel in every kernel release, as with the non-DKMS variant. When I reported that in the official repo, the answer was "we bump because we use the same PKGBUILD", and no true reason was given. So I adopted this package and put it into shape as a true DKMS package. See that the "-git" part in the pkgname is just for looks, since bbswitch does not see a commit since dec 2013 (there are 5 commits in some experimental branch, last one in may 2016). So the only maintenance for a non-DKMS package is bumping pkgrel for kernel releases. With that said, I'm not interested in maintaining bbswitch-git, also because I must follow kernel releases too attentively, otherwise risking to break someone else's system (for those that rely too much on AUR helpers, like myself). Please, see that there is no advantage of using bbswitch-git over the official bbswitch.

Can you please adopt this package: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/bbswitch-git/ ? It would be nice to have both maintained in one place, as a split package (as it done in official repos).

Merged your changes and added a pkgver function. Thanks.

Fixed package a bit (added prepare(), used this while debugging bbswitch): http://bpaste.net/show/454287/

Hi, i've uploaded the package as bbswitch-dkms-git

alucryd commented on 2013-04-05 20:57 (UTC)

Hey, could you upload this package under the name bbswitch-dkms-git to be in line with official dkms packages? I'll then merge this into it. Thx!

You could synchronize the packet with the branch "develop" instead of "master". Follow my suggestion, look for lines 19 and 31: https://gist.github.com/3919759 Apply the package also bbswitch-git.

The wikipage on bumblebee says to load the module on boot. "MODULES=(... bbswitch ...)" Is this necessary for the dkms version? If so what conf file does one do this? Cheers

Svenstaro commented on 2012-01-14 22:28 (UTC)

Good job with that. :)

Samsagax commented on 2012-01-14 22:28 (UTC)

As you wish. Bumblebee is about to release and the ArchWiki has been updated.

Svenstaro commented on 2012-01-14 22:27 (UTC)

Well why? We have plenty of git version of packages that have stable releases. Why shouldn't this one also have that?

Samsagax commented on 2012-01-14 22:25 (UTC)

@Svenstaro: could you delete this package? since I already added a stable one: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=55798 Seems more suitable a stable package for dkms.
