@regagain: You're right that upstream is abandoned, and to be honest, this PKGBUILD is, too. I've not been using the plugin in a long time: I still would like to have its functionality, but its design has some fundamental issues in my opinion.
I had a very brief look at adammillerio's fork: For now, there are no actual changes aside from package metadata updates and changes to the CI configuration. The code still has some bugs regarding pathnames (see the incorrect usage of beets.util.displayable_path). I'd not call this "Python3-compatible".
Given the above, I'll not switch to that fork, but rather disown the package.

According to upstream (https://github.com/sbarakat/beets-copyartifacts), the project is abandoned, but there's a Python3-compatible fork at https://github.com/adammillerio/beets-copyartifacts.
