Thank you for marking the package as out-of-date. But you not need.

I am working with the founder of betterbird and receive the information about the new version immediately. And I am not 24 hours in front of my PC. Sometimes I have a private life and need to sleep. But you can be sure, I am doing my best to update as soon as possible.

Kind regards

You can file errors in the package here. Filing the same issue twice makes no sense.

Indeed I was thinking it would reach a wider audience and get some resonance whether other users are experiencing similar issues. I am fully aware that the package maintainer is not the author of the software. However, in this particular case the packager is actually part of the team as far as I could tell: https://aur.archlinux.org/account/Betterbird

Apologies if I offended anyone, I will no longer mention bugs here.

Since you filed the issue here: https://github.com/Betterbird/thunderbird-patches/issues/379, what exactly is the point to file it here again? You think it will get more attention this way? The opposite is the case, it will waste more time. Plus, filing it here is inappropriate, since the maintainer of the package has nothing to do with faults in the software itself.

I've been using betterbird for the better part of a year with the AUR package. Since the update to 128.5.0esr, trying to filter messages in the message list (via Ctrl-Shift-K) freezes Betterbird indefinitely. The message list stays blank and no filtered messages appear even after a long time (>1 min). This happens even when the folder has very few (~5) messages.

At first I thought it was related to the following bug in TB: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1908761 However, that bug has been fixed and there are important differences in that the filtered messages never appear on BB even after a very long wait.

I've installed and run TB (128.4.4 - the current version on Arch) as well as version 128.5.0 (downloaded directly from the TB website), and indeed message filtering works flawlessly in both (using the same profile as for BB).

I'll fix that right now.

The desktop file lists

Icon=eu.betterbird.Betterbird

However the icons distributed with the package are named betterbird.png. This means that there is no correct icon in the menu or the taskbar when the application is started up.

I've just fixed it.

Can confirm, the .desktop is missing, unfortunately. No problem when launching from terminal.

Looks like it got renamed to eu.betterbird.Betterbird losing the .desktop extension.

I think the .desktop file is missing, would be nice to add it
