@john999, I agree it's an issue. I raised it in the BibleAnalyzer forums last February, pointing to espeak-ng as the direction forward.
I was ultimately able to get the old espeak behaving again, but you've also underlined a broader conflicting issue with other applications depending on the maintained espeak-ng.
I'm not able to address the issue by patching BibleAnalyzer's included Python files, as it would be in breach of the BibleAnalyzer licence. It is not open-source.

To be clear, BibleAnalyzer is not currently compatible with espeak-ng, without modification to code.
May I suggest you raise the issue in the BibleAnalyzer forums.

If Bible Analyzer fails to launch under Wayland, run with this environment variable set:
WEBKIT_DISABLE_DMABUF_RENDERER=1
