If you find that the software does not run after you've updated your packages (but not this package), then you just need to re-install this package. The problem that occurs is that the shared library files get updated/renamed, and so Bitcoin can't find them where it expects to find them. But when re-installing this package, the make script will detect the new location of those shared libraries.
