@Arhat: on Arch you need to rebuild AUR packages whenever library packages in the main repository are updated.

bitcoin-qt equires libprotobuf.so.22 bitcoin-qt: error while loading shared libraries: libprotobuf.so.22

protobuf now ships with libprotobuf.so.23

FYI, the GUI startup problem appears to be solved with the latest release, 1.6.0.0

Filip98: bitcoind works fine for me (it writes to the debug.log file and the process accepts commands from bitcoin-cli), however on both my arch machines bitcoin-qt seems to hang indefinitely. I'll try to investigate further and/or file a bug report upstream as time permits.

Is it just me or... do both bitcoin-qt and bitcoind simply hang when you type them into the console, as the menu entry also appeared to do... nothing I see that not many users use this package but I wanted a BCH wallet that isn't an an online wallet

off topic: I recently got into bitcoin and crypto cash again and I wasn't sure should I go for this or regular bitcoin but I don't have virtual gold to store and transfer slowly with huge fees, this must have turned the pay with bitcoin store's upside down for a short while

The package is updated to the 1.5.0.0 release, which follows the Bitcoin Cash (BCH) chain. If upgrading from a BTC version, the package will print out a notice to that effect.

Is anyone actually using this package?

Recently I inquired of redfish about adding the Bitcoin Cash (BCH) edition of Bitcoin Unlimited. He responded that he sees no point maintaining the BTC release version, as it is not being developed any more, and gave me green light to update this package to point to the BCH edition. I agree with that and I'm ready to apply the changes, but wish to give people heads up before changing the BU release edition.

Thanks a lot for taking care of these packages :)

Note before flagging out-of-date: This package is for BTC (latest 1.0.3.0), not BCH (latest 1.2.0.1). I'll create another package for BCH (aka. BUcash).

Disowning this package, as I'm not a bitcoin user anymore. The civil war has emptied my patience, I work with Ethereum now, which I consider a better technology, with better developers, and the right community mindset to take the lead in the economic revolution caused by blockchain.
