@v1993 Thank you for mentioning it, I added the message inside post_install(). I don't remember why I didn't just copy the .install file over from the previous bizhawk-monort package, either way, it's here now. I apologize for not adding or mentioning it beforehand.

Hmm... looks like the notice I wrote didn't make it over to this package.

To quote package etiquette from the wiki:

All important messages should be echoed during install using an .install file. For example, if a package needs extra setup to work, directions should be included.

So please, use that to include a message that users must be added to the games group, ideally with the explanation you've included in the previous comment. This will save everyone involved a lot of frustration. And thank you for working on the package in the first place!

@dmitsuki It is required, since BizHawk needs to be able to write files inside the directory where it is located in order to work correctly, and giving write permissions to every user would be a security risk. If you have any other solutions to that problem, feel free to propose it here!

@YoshiRulz

Considering how ridiculous that is, I don't think I will. I will simply build it myself. Keep up the bad work.

@YoshiRulz Thank you, I forgot to mention that before, my fault. Anyway yeah, before installing the package, the current user must be added to the games group in order to be able to run BizHawk.

Y'all need to learn to read the damn PKGBUILD.

install -Dm774 -ggames EmuHawkMono.sh "${pkgdir}/opt/bizhawk/EmuHawkMono.sh"

So you need to usermod -aG games yourname.

dmitsuki commented on 2025-02-25 05:27 (UTC)

It definitely does not set the correct permissions.
