Just a friendly notice to save others time: This is NOT free, there is a 'viewer' mode you can use without having a license, but its so heavily crippled i wouldn't even bother trying.

Chimyx's comment still hasn't been taken into account.
The installation with the provided PKGBUILD file fails on an x86_64 architecture for the reason he mentioned.

Chimyx commented on 2013-12-24 00:31

There is an 'e' missing at the end of the ckecksum for the x86_64 file.
The sha512sum ends with 'aba9cf1', it should en with 'aba9cf1e'.

Here's my packaging of DoUML:

Anonymous comment on 2013-03-17 11:56

If anyone is interested in packaging Douml for Arch the code is here:

(it is a fork of Bouml 4.22.2)

It is still not fully ported(some plugouts are missing) and not entirely stable, but it is more or less usable for my working routine(c++ code generation) and much better at that than 6.4.3 due to a multitude of UI improvements.

@cros_145: please pick up, it is orphaned and has the better name

since the 5.0 Bouml isn't free (nor in GPL)

in the past I used live archlinux from to package Bouml, but since he stopped to produce live version I stopped too because I didn't find a replacement working on my PC

best regards

PKGBUILD with source changed:

5.0 is out since Feb 22, but it's apparently non-free. The source DL link is broken though, but should be provided by Bruno since the previous releases were GPL. Flagged out of date.

I don't distribute the sources of the 4.23 to test how much serious a possible fork is. A fork is 'serious' only if starting from the 4.22.2 sources it is able to rebuild the 4.23 or a large part of it. The day this king of fork will exist I will publish the 4.23. Today there is no serious fork and for instance 'Douml' was done by non serious people wanting just to make their publicity and producing a non usable result with plenty of bugs (it not possible to reload a project under Windows, code generation don't work, reverse/roundtrip don't work etc etc).

Best regards.

Source code no longer available on SF

mathieuI commented on 2010-12-07 00:04

Yeah, as Babets states this, if I don’t have the source code, I can’t get anywhere.
If you are not willing to release the source code, please change the license specified on your website (GPL), and in the package you made for ArchLinux.
If you wish to have some way to maintain the package (a remote precompiled archive from which you build a package, for example), let me know, and I will drop the package to let you maintain it.
In the current situation, I can’t make a package (or a very incomplete one, at least).

frb commented on 2010-12-02 20:32

Please bruno_pages provide the source code for this release so mathieul could update the pkgbuild. I respect your sad decision of not developing this software anymore but (at least for this last release) you must provide the source code as bouml is licensed as GPL :)

Bouml is no longer developed, so there won’t be any new releases.
Please note that the new version is the 4.23, but I can’t get the source code, and only debian/ubuntu/fedora/opensuse packaging has been made.
If there is any update on this situation, please let me know.

mathieuI commented on 2010-09-19 16:48

I post here just to mention that the main developer decided, in a childish move (read more about his crusade against wikipedia here:, I personally don't understand the reason), to remove all the files of the bouml project in sourceforge.
So currently, the package doesn't work, you can get the source code on a mirror here but I will wait a stable situation to make changes in the PKGBUILD.

acieroid commented on 2010-05-22 17:34

A new version is available, and there's an include directory missing (qt include directory is in /opt/qt/include).
See to handle that.
