New version has its Makefile broken somehow, but I added a patch.

hashbang commented on 2016-04-22 21:42

I disowned this package, since I'm not using brightd anymore.
Feel free to adopt it.

analbeard commented on 2015-12-04 11:55

Still broken for me, however hashbang's md5sums do the trick.

hashbang commented on 2015-07-02 12:45

Oh, I forgot to mention that my Yaourt is configured to fetch sources from AUR4 and I also tried to directly clone sources from git, but the result was the same.

And the following lines are the md5 sums.

I tried to edit the md5sums() array to match those sums and brightd built smoothly.
md5sums=('42f1572c51162bf583d6436c3b36cc17'
'f5d5c7ed5c48d2dbe408986d5f6249fb'
'1fead7c648d3939970e7e62b21146734')

Just for info: what files of the brightd sources have the sums 'a4717b49eb0494de57d19a3a574462ec' and '549926dcb3c43e0e6fe45025806d0782'?

csllbr commented on 2015-07-02 10:25

thanks for providing the correct patch - i've udpated it!
I couldn't reproduce the integrity check problem:
==> Validating source files with md5sums...
brightd-0.4.1.tar.bz2 ... Passed
brightd.service ... Passed
proposal.patch ... Passed

If you want to look into that for yourself - I've granted you co-maintainer privileges!

hashbang commented on 2015-07-02 10:09

csllbr, -4 revision fails at the integrity check due the following line: 'a4717b49eb0494de57d19a3a574462ec'.
It also fails at patching (at the lines fixed by my patch) because the new proposal.patch is malformed, probably due a wrong cat.

I fixed the patch and I uploaded it to my mega account, so you can download it.

Seems the issue is the 'inline' keyword used to declare both info() and isEventFileValid() functions.

I've made a patch to fix this issue.

hobarrera commented on 2015-05-18 07:28

Nope, same issue. Did you try building on a clean system, just to make sure?

csllbr commented on 2015-05-18 05:26

weird... I can't reproduce that. Building the latests 0.4.1-3 works without any errors. Does manually building the package work?

hobarrera commented on 2015-05-18 01:50

Getting build error:

I have created a new source package: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/64215950/brightd-0.4.1-3.src.tar.gz

I did some cleanup on the PKGBUILD, removed rc scripts and config, and added a .service file.

To customize startup parameters of brightd, copy /usr/lib/systemd/system/brightd.service to /etc/systemd/system and modify ExecStart by hand.

punkrockguy318 commented on 2013-01-06 03:14

It'd be nice to have a systemd .service file for this!

Nierro commented on 2012-09-02 14:55

It works very well, thanks!
But how can i have it stopped while eg whatching a movie?
;) thanks!

Mex commented on 2012-02-08 15:24

Thanks losch that fixed it. :)

Anonymous comment on 2012-02-08 14:44

Mex: Try adding 'Option "GrabEventDevice" "false"' to your InputClass-Section in the xorg-config for the synaptic touchpad. A paste of my 10-synaptics.conf can be found here: http://goo.gl/2tN8q - good luck, pal :)

Mex commented on 2012-02-08 14:35

Does not brighten when I use my synaptic touch pad, only when I use my nipple mouse... any ideas?

Anonymous comment on 2011-11-09 22:23

Ok, i fixed this package on my system (moving on to the /sys-interface to check AC status, ignore intel_backlight) and also changed the dimming time according to 0marks value. Let me know if this update broke something on your system!

Anonymous comment on 2011-11-09 02:46

I've been using this tool for some months - now with kernel 3.1 it doesn't work anymore as it used to. I get funny sounds when dimming and it also doesn't dim up all the way anymore. Sometimes the screen even stays dark and would only react when manually setting a new brightness value. Would be great if somebody could fix this - thanks alot :)

0mark commented on 2011-02-08 19:53

Brightd did not really fade on my system, but switched from light to dark. Add this in the PKBUILD directly before the make to have a nice fade (it sleeps now 100000 microseconds (0.1s) between each step. My x41 has 7 steps, so it takes about a second. Change the number if needed):
mv brightd.c b; cat b | sed 's/usleep(200);/usleep(100000);/g' > brightd.c; rm b
