This brother-DCPT720DW package is for printing functionality only. For the scanning functionality, you need to use the brscan5 (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/brscan5). Please note that brscan5 requires additional configuration after installation (read about this in the official documentation). I use the scan page program for scanning (https://apps.kde.org/ru/skanpage). I have ADF working in it.

This driver works on my dcpt720dw. In general, this package downloads the required package from the official website and installs it on arch and similar distributions.
