@jschuster Thank you for the recommendation, I had forgotten about that project. I put a note on the wiki about this (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/CUPS/Printer-specific_problems).

@lmat: I had the same issues as you. I installed the brlaser-git package from AUR instead and reinstalled the printer in CUPS using that driver, and now everything works great.

I just got a HLL2300D, installed this driver, and gave a test run. I'm printing two pages from a three-page document from Evince. It looks like the printer settings are mostly ignored from Evince, but the defaults in CUPS are honored?

For instance, when I set Duplex to DuplexNoTumble (https://imgur.com/JGSGxdr.png), it doesn't matter whether I use one-sided or "long-edge binding" in the printer settings (https://imgur.com/Hn3B2vr.png), the print job is always duplex. Likewise, if Duplex is set to none in CUPS defaults, it doesn't matter what I put in the printer settings in Evince, the print job is always one-sided.

It is similar for "Paper Source" which can be "Manual Feed", "Tray1", or "Printer Default": it doesn't matter what I select in printer settings, the printer always decides: if there is a paper in the manual feed, it uses that, if not, it takes paper from the tray.

It is not convenient to have to check and change CUPS default printer settings any time I want to print to make sure duplex settings are correct. Is this a known problem?

Hi, I'm hit by this bug: https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/265538/cups-prints-n%c2%b2-as-many-copies-as-i-want/310046

However, the filter file includes no CUPSOPTION variable (see also my comment below the accepted answer).

My configuration is described here in more detail: https://forum.manjaro.org/t/how-to-set-up-a-remote-printer-which-is-attached-to-a-raspberry-pi-or-any-other-arm-computer/57056/1

Any ideas what is going wrong here? Thanks for any input!

Worked perfectly with my Brother HL-L2320D, thanks!

Thanks a lot for this package! For me, the printer does not work if I set resolution to "HQ1200" in CUPS. Can anyone confirm this issue? With 600 dpi it works perfectly.

Requires ghostscript as a dependency. But note there is an open source driver at https://github.com/pdewacht/brlaser that works for this printer.
