Sorry about that, not sure why I didn't catch that. The issue was with the PKGBUILD using $pkgrel for upstream version number, which it of course shouldn't. It is fixed now.

For 1.1.2 I'm getting:

curl: (22) The requested URL returned error: 404
 ==> ERROR: Failure while downloading https://www.brother.com/pub/bsc/linux/dlf/mfc5890cnlpr-1.1.2-3.i386.rpm

When reverting to

https://download.brother.com/pub/com/linux/linux/dlf/mfc5890cnlpr-1.1.2-2.i386.rpm

(1.1.2-2 to 1.1.2-2) it works.

If anyone else has the problem that the top of DIN-A4 documents are cropped / truncated, there is a very helpful command that fixes it!

Fixed my issue by doing brprintconf_mfc5895cw -pt A4

So with the Brother MFC-5890cn the following command fixed the issue:

sudo brprintconf_mfc5890cn -pt A4
