I should mention that I have tested this with a Dell E515dw printer and it functions perfectly, as well as scanning with brscan4. I believe this Dell printer is a skinned version of the MFC-L2710DW

I also needed to install ghostscript to get the printer working.

@enginefeeder101 : your aur package is still working fine (no error, printing/scanning do work as expected). for scanner another aur package is required: brscan4

Printing to the Brother MFC-L2710DW stopped working for me on the three (3) Arch machines I operate. I tried debugging, but cannot find any errors, I suppose it might have something to do with multilib issues. To circumvent this issue, I switched to using a Debian based cups docker and that shares my Brother as a raw printing device to my Arch machines.

You may want to add brscan4
as opt dep for scanning.

As enginefeeder101 commented, the Brother MFC-L2710DW works fine for printing and scanning. brscan4 must also be installed. However, you will need to use the brscan4 associated program "brsaneconfig4" to add the scanner. I set the printer to a fixed IP and put an IP reservation in the router - in my case to 192.168.1.130 Then I executed: sudo brsaneconfig4 -a name=Brother-MFC-L2710DW-series model="Brother MFC-L2710DW series" ip=192.168.1.130
Obviously you may have set different names but these were the default names. Enjoy!

I own a MFC-L2710DW since a month or two. Both (duplex) printing and scanning (using brscan4 and brscan-skey for easy access buttons) works without any quirks.
Are there specific features I can check for you?

I use Arch and am currently considering purchasing a Brother MFC-L2710DW: there is no information about it on the Linux OpenPrinting database, and I'd like to make sure that it works perfectly in Arch before I take the plunge and buy it.
I'd appreciate it if someone could tell me whether this package/driver works perfectly, mostly, or only partially. Thanks.
