a web interface for the scanner? how can i use it? btw, i tried it with the latest ubuntu in a livesystem, and the result was: scanimage: open of device brother4:net1;dev0 failed: Invalid argument ;)

All of our Brother scanner/printers have a web-Interface to set such things up. I'm out of ideas now. Network scans are working on our hardware is all I can say. Maybe someone else has a hint.

Okay, thank you. I am out of ideas except for one: IPv4 vs. IPv6 problem? What is the content of /opt/brother/scanner/brscan4/brsanenetdevice4.cfg? Did you see https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/SANE#Invalid_argument

Sorry for being nuisant but I'd give xsane a try before starting to access the scanner via shell. Just to be sure...

@harvey xsane can't bring a advantage over scanimage, because xsane is only a gui frontend for scanimage :(

Please give xsane a try, it works for me.
