Make sure you add a valid Doom 2 WAD file to
:: /usr/share/games/brutal-doom-64/
:: e.g. DOOM.WAD, DOOM2.WAD.

SAVE GAMES:

Please backup saves! It is not a good idea to upgrade this package with a campaign in progress. Save files are not compatible between versions of most mods, including this one.

VERSION 2.0 issues:

* Hud duplication of health meter. Label for 100 is duplicated alongside your actual health.

Got a potentially stupid question. I'm used to the original doom games where the point of view is always centered, is there a way to prevent the "view" from moving up when firing? I have to keep hitting "end" to lower the view whenever I'm firing (FWIW, I'm not a gamer not sure if the terminology is correct). I guess that's simulating a recoil from the weapon. I'd like to turn that off if possible.

What am I missing? I have gzdoom installed and operational, I've copied my doom2.wad to /usr/share/games/brutal-doom-64/. Clicking the menu entry for brutal-doom-64 does nothing, and running it from the terminal gives me "cannot find gzdoom.pk3". It also does not appear in the gzdoom game selection menu (not sure if it's supposed to or not). I've rebuilt it twice, it does not seem to download or compile a gzdoom.pk3.

Edit: got it figured out, had to add Path=/usr/share/gzdoom to the Filesearch.Directories in the gzdoom.ini in /usr/share/games/brutal-doom-64/

@TiaoHero This is designed to be a quick-setup for Gzdoom. There are premade config files etc. over at ModDB for Brutal Doom 64. See:www.moddb.com/mods/brutal-doom-64. Perhaps I could make this package provide two executables, one for gzdoom, one for Zandronum. I'll take a look.

How i can load these pk3 files using zandronum instead of gzdoom ?

@Oczkins92 you must provide your own DOOM2.WAD file. It would be a bit illegal for me to provide that :)

Works out of the box?or does need original Doom2.wad?

I've updated the git repo to also point to ~/.config/gzdoom/brutal-doom-64, seems like a better place anyway.

ProfessorKaos64 commented on 2016-11-06 23:52

AdrianoML, I fixed it just now to point to ~/.config/gzdoom/brutal-doom-64, but the save files will always point to that save folder, and ~ expands to /home/<USER>. The gzdoom.ini file should look in a few common spots, but if one is not listed, let me know.

Thanks AdrianoML, I'll take a look!
