So it still happened on bare metal and with the Jar direct from github and building from source so I have opened an issue on github. For visibility in case down the line anyone runs into this here is the issue I opened: https://github.com/btdex/btdex/issues/154

Okay. I'm going to wait to create an issue until trying it on bare metal install just to be sure. This was just in a VM for now as I was confirming program compatibility. If it is still happening after that install I can go from there. Thank you for your time!

Very strange. Doesn't look like a packaging issue though I could be wrong. Maybe make an issue on the GitHub.

The etherium.log? yeah it is owned by my user and has permissions on user, group, and other for read/modify. My user/group also owns the full directory that file is contained in.

Now that's a log!
Looks like it can't read or write some files for some reason. Do you have the proper permissions to access the files it's talking about?

This better?

There isn't enough information. Edit
~/.config/btdex/config.properties
and change the logging level to INFO:logging=info

If I run with sudo I get the below and the application actually opens.

This is what I get and then nothing happens

Hi, could you show me the exact error you get in the terminal?
sdooweloc commented on 2021-05-08 04:21 (UTC)
Great package. Loving the easy install on Arch with this. Though I run into an issue where if I try to launch the application it launches for a few seconds on the task manager but never launches the actual window before quitting. If I run btdex in terminal it gives a warning about tray image size and never launches. If I launch through terminal with sudo it properly launches but I feel like it isnt intended to have to be launched through terminal with sudo what am I doing wrong?

@BenTheTechGuy, hi! 1. my bad, will fixed 2. btdex.desktop, btdex.sh were created in this package, men ;) Now they are similar and can replace, agree. 3. yes, only one trouble, Archlinux official support only x86_64 just example of one java package: https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/tree/PKGBUILD?h=pycharm-professional

The build failed for me since the checksum on icon.png changed. Instead of sourcing from master, source it from the version tag. For example, instead of https://github.com/btdex/btdex/raw/master/src/main/resources/icon.png, use https://github.com/btdex/btdex/raw/v0.1.21/src/main/resources/icon.png. That way, the checksum won't change from a redesign or something until the next version.
You don't have to source your own btdex.desktop or btdex.sh. Instead, use the ones at https://github.com/btdex/btdex/tree/v0.1.21/dist.
The architecture should be any or all instead of x86_64 since java can run on any architecture.
