Buku has just been updated to version v5.0, https://github.com/jarun/buku. The repo is alive and well with strong activity and lotz of collaborators.

Buku has had in average 2 releases a year,

This PKGBUILD, "buku-git", has not been touched since 2023. It might be a good time to review it and check if everything is properly working.

In the meantime, the AUR PKGBUILD "buku", https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/buku, has just been abandoned.

It would be nice if the same set of person(s) with competence in Python could adopt and maintain both "buku" and "buku-git". Avoiding reduplicating work, and sharing more pairs of eyes.

This package appears to be missing the dependency extra/python-setuptools. Otherwise installation fails on a fresh system.

What happened to the buku (non-git) package?

I have the same, aborted install with: Install: cannot stat 'buku.py': No such file or directory.

HOwever, not when installing buku (non-git) version from aur repository.
