@zjemm More than likely it has something to do with the desktop environment not finding the svg. Do you have hicolor-icon-theme? Also, I'd rather not setup a VM for something like this.

@sum01 i was able to replicate the issue using vm's, install plain arch with budgie, and then install buttercup using makepgk

maybe you could give it a go to see if i'm not the only one?

@zjemm No idea what the issue could be. The desktop file, and its corresponding svg are installed, which should be sufficient to display the icon.

zjemm commented on 2018-10-06 12:46 (UTC)

the tray icon does not seem to appear in this package.

ive tried the following:

use the official appimage on: solus-budgie and solus-mate, no tray icon ubuntu-budgie, ubuntu vanilla no tray icon

In the appimage the tray icon does not work on any system where there is no buttercup full installed. after installing the full client, but running the appimage, the tray icon does apear, so it might be missing in the appimage?

========

Then i installed the full client: ubuntu-budgie, ubuntu vanilla YES tray icon

then i tried on arch (which i'm using) arch with budgie NO tray icon installed via the AUR because there is no official package. and i think the problem might just be in that aur package because ive seen the tray icon working on budgie, so that should not be an issue

but why, im not sure

For anyone wondering, 1.7.0 will not build as-is. There are fixes that are yet to be tagged, which I am waiting on before updating this.

See https://github.com/buttercup/buttercup-desktop/issues/612

@JeanMi91 No idea, I'm just maintaining the AUR pkgbuild.

Maybe check the issues https://github.com/buttercup/buttercup-desktop/issues or create one if no one has yet?

Yes, that's correct Feralai !

I have a problem with buttercup when I try to connect to a nextcloud account, i don't see my directories.

Ideas?

@freshgrass That doesn't seem to have anything to do with the PKGBUILD. Npm just failed to download a dependency. Probably just a hickup in the npmjs site.
