Well, it looks like I overlooked a couple of things. I am running i3wm, on Manjaro. cb2bib, from AUR, is now running. However, it does not show up on the desktop from which it was executed.
It ran swell on a plasma desktop. as well.
It seems my post was unnecessary. With apologies,

The current upstream version is 2.0.2. I have had trouble compiling cb2bib on my system; in particular, it does nothing when executed. Neither does it work when installed from AUR, this version. I rely on this software, so it's a big deal; however, I am unskilled, and do not know how to track down this issue.
