This is a responsibility of user to get latest version. This package should be deleted then and uploaded when a release is released. Some AUR helpers have possibility to check updates for vcs packages.

@micwoj92 , i am aware of that (a git package actually exists) and it is planned to move to a releas3 based system in the near future, but git packages dont "notify" the package manager when a new version is available, so this is the only way for now to make sure users actually get theatest version...

This either needs to be reuploaded as -git package or pinpoint to a commit and then update commit with new version, instead of bumping pkgrel.
