aurweb v6.5.0 was deployed -> AUR is not in read-only anymore. Yay ;)

We can keep shipping rolling releases again (based on upstream and *extra features) -> claude-desktop-extra in AUR is updated again

Right, AUR is read-only at the moment - adoptions and pushes are both disabled, so I can't push updates here either:

https://lists.archlinux.org/archives/list/aur-general@lists.archlinux.org/message/YPJ3FQYJTJXXY3RUXCYLMHUKHLIUNVFF/

This package will stay at v1.24012.9-12 until pushes are re-enabled.

Until then, I've switched from the AUR to my own signed repo:

# Add repository + import signing key (one-time setup)
curl -fsSL https://patrickjaja.github.io/claude-desktop-extra/install-pacman.sh | sudo bash

# Install (also brings the system up to date, as Arch requires)
sudo pacman -Syu claude-desktop-extra

I know piping a script into sudo isn't everyone's preferred way - the script is readable at that URL, and the README also documents the manual pacman.conf route if you'd rather do it by hand.

The AUR is effectively read-only until they figure out a way to deal with the attacks. If you want to update sooner, do it manually.

Is the auto-roll working?

Last update: 2026-07-31 13:11 (PDT)

This package rolls automatically: CI polls Anthropic's .deb repo every two hours and pushes every new release here the same day - no flagging out-of-date needed.

I see in https://github.com/patrickjaja/claude-desktop-extra/issues/218 it says:

AUR push was skipped this release (AUR is in maintenance mode) and catches up on the next release automatically.

Nice! It's good to know that I didn't do it just for myself :)

@dcelasun right https://github.com/patrickjaja/claude-desktop-extra/pull/70 🙏💪

and i think many users are using it, recently there was also question regarding that https://github.com/patrickjaja/claude-desktop-extra/issues/208

@patrickjaja I was actually the one who contributed multi-profile support :) Keep up the great work!

patrickjaja commented on 2026-08-04 13:50 (UTC)

@dcelasun Thanks so much for the kind words! We're glad the multi-profile support is useful. We'll keep maintaining this project to help the Linux community have a good Claude experience.

Thank you for the new package now that claude-desktop-bin is gone. Multi profiles alone is worth it :)
