It seems that the version uploaded to their SourceForge repo isn't compiling correctly due to this error:

/usr/bin/ld: xmain.o:(.bss+0x40): multiple definition of `compose_status'; xclipstext.o:(.bss+0x0): first defined here

I tried to just remove compose_status from xmain.c, which seems unused. And that way it did compile and I can execute the binary without any apparent issues.

I strongly suggest that you read the wiki: * https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Arch_Build_System * https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Arch_User_Repository * https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Makepkg Seriously, the ArchWiki is one of the most useful resources to use Arch Linux! Then build the updated termcap PKGBUILD (makepkg) and install it (pacman -U). Afterwards, rebuild clips. If you then still get an error message please post the whole error message.

I don't know what PKGBUILD is. I'm not familiar with AUR and honestly prefer to not use it. Now I just not have choice. If you want additional info ask concrete question and tell me how to provide that info because I literally don't know anything.

Hi kalin, the termcap package from my PKGBUILD has release number 5 (i.e. version 1.3.1-5). If you are still using the "old" PKGBUILD (release 4) you will obviously run into the same issue as before since nothing has changed. However, it is most difficult to help you without further information from your side. Regards Sven

I reinstall termcap (not sure if I get it from your PKGBUILD) and still can't build clips

Hi kalin, there seems to be an issue with the termcaps [1] package. Could you please try to build (and install) that package from my updated PKGBUILD [2]? Then give this clips package another go. Hi. I use manjaro linux and try to install this package but I get the following problem: collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status make[2]: *** [Makefile:447: clips] Error 1 make[2]: Leaving directory '/tmp/pamac-build-kalin/clips/src/clips-6.30.0.20090722svn/clips’ make[1]: *** [Makefile:390: all-recursive] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory '/tmp/pamac-build-kalin/clips/src/clips-6.30.0.20090722svn’ make: *** [Makefile:297: all] Error 2 ==> ERROR: A failure occurred in build(). Aborting… It is probably missing dependency or something similar. Can You do something about it ?

Updated to 6.30 I have switched to the version provided by the clipsmm [1] project, as it includes a more convenient build system. The previous version of the PKGBUILD can be found under [2].
