A small nitpick. Why this repo includes .gitignore? Can you remove it? Also, why md5sums instead of sha256sums?

For now i think updating on major releases should coincide with extra/cmake updates.
Updating on minor releases is required because the URL replaces the old file and the package won’t build otherwise.
