I agree with you that the name is misleading; the reason is that the cockpit features have evolved and i did not remove the additional features. I'm kind of sorry because on the latest version of this package i did remove the virtual machine support; the goal of this package is only to provide a web-based frontend to the machine (e.g. network configuration, storage, ...). That way, it really gets minimal now.

I currently remove: docker kubernetes tuned kdump selinux ovirt pcp playground realmd sosreport subscriptions

I've switched from cockpit to cockpit-minimal. The name is a little misguiding, because this package is providing everything except what is not required at all or not supported on Arch Linux. And the best is, virtual machines can be managed with this package. The only issue I've found is, cockpit-minimal cannot be used to connect to other systems with cockpit-minimal installed. So for the main machine providing access to the others, I still have to use the normal cockpit package.

I get the following error message when trying to connect to another cockpit machine: "Cockpit is not compatible with the software on the system."
