Note: rocksdb will not compile with gcc 7 in the repositories. This is due to a compiler bug [1]. Override CC and CXX with clang to build successfully for now.

You can disown it or add co-maintainers, either of which can allow someone to upload a PKGBUILD that compiles from source.

Its now at https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/cockroachdb-bin/, how do I remove this package though?

Thanks @carlwgeorge

@marceloneil Probably the easiest way would be to make these changes to your PKGBUILD and re-upload it as cockroachdb-bin.

pkgname='cockroachdb-bin'
conflicts=('cockroachdb')
provides=('cockroachdb')

Then just change this PKGBUILD to properly build from source.

Hey @aperez, I totally agree! However I'm not sure how to move the package without the users having a broken dependency. Do you have any suggestions? (You're the cockroachdb-git maintainer, correct?)

This package probably should be called “cockroachdb-bin”. In general it is a good practice to use the “-bin” suffix for packages which just grab precompiled binaries, and packages without the suffix would be built from sources.
