SanskritFritz commented on 2011-02-09 05:50

compiz-deskmenu-autoconfig still needs python2 patch

ShadowKyogre commented on 2010-11-20 23:08

You can leave it out.

So do I need to add deskmenu-editor to the PKGBUILD, or can I leave it?

ShadowKyogre commented on 2010-11-19 17:10

There's another updated I made to this (using native GTK+ support for a recent documents list). Again, the link to the most recent tarball contains the appropriate PKGBUILD and patch (the deskmenu editor updates are included in the patch, since I'm preparing to submit it to the git repository for the program).

Updated ;)

https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=853693 You can check this now for the most recent tarball of the patches I make for this now. Hope it's convenient :)

Emailed you the source tarball with the updates I did.

Fixed PKGBUILD from previous post: http://aur.pastebin.com/mvK2gK8U
Fixed patch from previous post (oddly pastebin decided to go crazy with the newline galore last time): http://aur.pastebin.com/eM0syn6u

ShadowKyogre commented on 2010-11-08 21:43

Updated patch to allow tilde expansion on launchers: http://aur.pastebin.com/sNhtK1s0 (for some reason, the patch is really large when "diff -aur" made it)
Updated PKGBUILD to utilize the new patch: http://aur.pastebin.com/DnpZDPas

Please update package for working after updating python.
Run compiz-deskmenu-editor and get an error

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/compiz-deskmenu-editor", line 3, in <module>
import gtk, os
ImportError: No module named gtk

I replaced in /usr/bin/compiz-deskmenu-editor #!/usr/bin/env python to #!/usr/bin/env python2. It works.
Sorry my bad english.

Package updated. I will be glad to add ShadowKyogre's patch from now on :)

I will update the PKGBUILD soon with your patches, thank you :)

Patch for more openbox-like command behavior (meaning that you can now do stuff like sh -c '$varblabla && bla'): http://pastebin.com/C11C2D6y
Updated PKGBUILD to utilize the new patch: http://aur.pastebin.com/EzAEv2T7

If I have the time, I might be able to write up patches for these features:
• Add icon support for menus (<icon> tags around menu's subjects or property like icon="name-of-icon-from-theme or /path/to/file")
* Add icon for viewports and windows item types
* Add set icon from file support

@atomkarinca: I'm not getting that error. :? What did you do the last time to get that?

When I try to run compiz-deskmenu-editor I get

** Message: pygobject_register_sinkfunc is deprecated (GtkInvisible)
** Message: pygobject_register_sinkfunc is deprecated (GtkObject)

Any suggestions?

The instructions shown after the install are outdated. The action plugin has been renamed to "commands":

+ General Options > Commands > Commands > Command line 0 to "compiz-deskmenu"
+ General Options > Commands > Key bindings > Run command 0 to "<Control>space" (optional)
+ Viewport Switcher > Desktop-based Viewport Switching > Plugin for initiate
action to "commands"
+ Viewport Switcher > Desktop-based Viewport Switching > Action name for
initiate to "run_command0_key"

blaster@polinice ~/Desktop/night $ yaourt -Ss compiz-deskmenu
aur/compiz-deskmenu 20080324-1 (76)
Compiz Fusion deskmenu plugin
blaster@polinice ~/Desktop/night $

Mmmh. I will rename it because of the -git, but there's no package in community with this name. :D

This package should be renamed to "compiz-deskmenu-git" to avoid these problems:

- A package in community has the same name.
- Be able to update it with yaourt (which fallsback to community repo).
