@dev_rs0 Hiya. Just letting you know that I've applied a patch to compiz-core-bzr which should fix the broken placement mode menu in the place plugin. I won't post the whole thing here but you can find the patch in the compiz-core-bzr tarball.

I agree the "core" part should be dropped from the package name.

Our 0.8.x series package compiz-core doesn't come with ccsm and a lot of other features. I'm concerned that calling this compiz-core-devel will confuse the heck out of everyone because they'll assume it only includes compiz-core; the 0.9.x series used to be broken up into separate packages as well. What about merging all the official 0.8.x packages into compiz or compiz-total? Compiz is unusable as a window manager without things like the "move window" plugin installed. And Compiz 0.9.x is abandoned and that happened years after 0.8.x was abandoned. Also 0.9.7 is the current stable release of compiz-core (https://launchpad.net/compiz-core/0.9.7) but I see your point.

devrs0: Thx, packages merged. beardedlinuxgeek: Wrong, the latest stable branch is 0.8.x, the 0.9.x branch is unstable. Now you may want to have a look at our official repositories and see that unstable releases have a -devel suffix. Now, I realize compiz-devel would be a better name since all its parts have been merged, but I think it's nice to have all main compiz packages share the same name with different suffixes (compiz-core, compiz-core-devel, compiz-core-bzr).

beardedlinuxgeek commented on 2014-04-02 06:55 (UTC)

If you want to rename the package, it should just be compiz. The latest release is 9.10; this package is for the latest release. Unfortunately because of all the dead compiz-* packages from when they were split up, naming this "compiz" would be confusing. So... compiz-dev is perfect.

compiz-core-devel has been uploaded.

alucryd commented on 2014-04-01 08:05 (UTC)

Merged quite a few compiz orphans into this one. Can you please upload this as 'compiz-core-devel'? compiz-core is the widely used pkgname for compiz, and -devel is the arch suffix for development packages.

Just adopted. I'll have this up to 0.9.10 tomorrow. 0.9.11 is not released yet. we have compiz-bzr for for the unreleased dev branch.

Hi. Could you add the following to the post_install() and post_remove() functions of compiz-dev.install echo " -> Updating icon cache..." gtk-update-icon-cache -q -f -t /usr/share/icons/hicolor That way, ccsm won't have a blank icon when using the gnome icon theme (or other icon themes that use the hicolor icons.
