As far as I know there is no way to do automatic rebases from a PKGBUILD without a high chance of breakages. Perhaps you could create a pull request or contact the github maintainer and see if he would be willing to rebase his code

Would be cool if you rebase the branch on the one from yshui, as the official package is based upon that too and it has some additional fixes.

Kawase provides a nice "frosted glass" blur effect without the high cpu load of higher level gaussian filters
