It might be worth adding cmake as a dependency?

Thanks for your answer!

I will be waiting for the next version of the conkywx :)

paramvir commented on 2014-04-18 04:13

Hi

I have left a note on the main Arch Forums - wunderground has had a major overhaul of it's website. Therefore all older versions of conkywx will not work.

The latest version is now under testing and working. Also as there are many other changes which need the conkywx wiki to be updated - please bear with me guys.

The new conkywx will have loads of new and interesting stuff coming up. Support for languages, lua [get conky with lua bindings from aur - it will be worth your while ;-)]

cheers

Hello paramvir,

The conkywx is not working for me after the last updates of foomatic packages. I think that the problem occured by the replacement of foomatic-filters with cups-filters.

Do you have any idea about this issue?

paramvir commented on 2013-10-18 14:08

That is Fantastic ! :D

Yes you can copy the files in any directory so long as you give the required paths to the program.

You did well - and hey - how about the vote ;-)

hruodland commented on 2013-10-18 10:48

Thanks!

I put conky-restart.sh, conkywx.conf, short-conkyrc.sh, and short-image-template.sh in my ~/.config/conkywx, changed the definition of WX_DIR in conky-restart.sh to that directory, changed $WX_DIR/examples to $WX_DIR where needed in the scripts, customized conkywx.conf, and success crowned my efforts!

I suppose I could also have simply customized conkywx.conf where it was, but I didn't want to put customizations in /usr/share/conkywx/examples/.

paramvir commented on 2013-10-18 01:40

I removed /etc/conkywx/conkywx.conf as it was duplicating and sometimes confusing issues.

When you run conky - in the conky rc file - you pass the parameters to conkywx with a -c option for the config details and template goes with a -t option.

Have a look at the conkywx examples directory /usr/share/conkywx/examples/conkywx.conf - you can edit this file as is or copy to any location - make changes and give that location path in the default template used ../examples/short-conkyrc.sh

Let me know how it goes - perhaps I can add this information in the wiki once we resolve this :)

hruodland commented on 2013-10-17 14:06

Looks good, but I can't tell from the manual page, release notes, or wiki how to make it show anything but New Delhi weather. Experimentation got me nowhere. Where do I put the customizations that used to go in /etc/conkywx/conkywx.conf?

There are many changes and additions in this release. Read the release notes included.

paramvir commented on 2013-03-28 07:59

Yes every thing is possible - impossible also says i m possible - having said that - email me if you are willing to help getting them into the program.

You will need to be quick about it - have a look at the conkywx wiki.

Is it possible to include these[1] icon themes and a sample conky script/template that looks more like this[2]?

Only change in the release 2 of conkywx 0.7.9 is the inclusion of conkywxwiki.html help file in the installation - though the file was there in the tar.xz archive - it was not being installed in the system.

Hi paramvir,
Thank you for your answer. I lacked the file " .conkywx " (necessary, without what this cannot work:)) Examples were definitely in " / usr / share / conkywx ". Everything works correctly consequently.
I give you my vote, of course!
See you soon

paramvir commented on 2012-11-02 19:45

Also If you are running gnome you will need to change the own_window_type to normal in the conkyrc file located in /usr/share/conkywx/examples - just check the conky-restart.sh - which conkyrc file is being called and make changes in that. My config is for XFCE 4.10 - and since you are already using conky - I guess you should be familiar with it - else you can always pop-in at the forums and we can sort it all out for you
cheers

paramvir commented on 2012-11-02 19:39

Hi onyx67
Just type conkywx in the terminal - will give you conkywx assistant and type 2 to read the conkywx wiki documentation in your browser.

There are loads of examples in /usr/share/conkywx/examples directory.

However - you can just type /usr/share/conkywx/conky-restart.sh - this will start conky weather in default template and location etc.

You can copy the /etc/conkywx/conkywx.conf to you /home/user_name/.config/conkywx/ - in this file you will need to change your Location etc - if you read the manual conkywx wiki - you will find a good amount of documentation - as mentioned below you can also find more information in the forums https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1162348

Also to run conky with multiple configurations - i use a script file such as conky-restart.sh to launch all my configurations. To launch your existing config you can add an entry like conky -c ~/.conkyrc - this will also launch your config along with say conkywx. just see the file /usr/share/conkywx/conky-restart.sh - this file can be copied to any directory you like and add your conky lines etc and run conky this way.

Let me know how it goes :)

cheers

Hi paramvir,
I have just installed conkywx. I do not manage to use it. When I launch “conky- C ~/.configuration/conkywx” I have right “Weather update download completed”. I suppose that I must a create new “.conkywxrc” for the throw. I tried to find an example of configuration on the Web but did not find any. Do you have an example? (Knowing that I have already a “.conkyrc” for my data system).
Thank you for your attention.

As many users are using various conky variants - conky is no longer a
dependency but however - conky is still required. Please ensure
conky - in what ever form - is infact installed.

Hi paramvir,

Still a blank conky with 0.7.4 after checking conf file and using different own_window_type settings with LXDE desktop. Debug log is fine it seems. I'm thinking it's probably going wrong in conky not conkywx. The ArchForum is probably the best place for me to communicate further.

paramvir commented on 2012-09-17 14:19

What Desktop Environment are you using - If it is Gnome 3 - The setting in conkyrc "own_window_type override" does not work - you need to set it "own_window_type normal". or other options like desktop etc

paramvir commented on 2012-09-17 06:00

There are many changes after 0.6.8 - so perhaps if you could give the output for conkywx --debug

also see the forums
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1162348

The config file has 2 new options:
Units_downloaded=SI
show_short_cond_text=0

p-we commented on 2012-09-16 20:48

Great app!
0.6.8 was working fine. The new 0.7.3-1 just blanks out. I couldn't find any obvious reasons for this. It doesn't look like the parameters in conf have changed.
