Sorry it took me a bit to get back to this. The verbose output doesn't seem to inform much.
However, I did figure out that if I run makepkg twice, the second time being in the partially built directory of the first attempt, it does build. Seems a bit strange to me but I guess the end result is what matters.
I can confirm this entire process reproduced on 2 machines.

Unfortunately I have no idea what goes wrong there, the excerpt has almost no information. Is it really all the context shown? Maybe try running makepkg with VERBOSE=1 then?

Yeah, same things happens in a clean directory.

Weird, I have successfully built that exact version, and also a later version just now. Do you get the error if you build in a clean directory?
