Wow. Your quick response made me get out of bed again.

It seems to work even without my $QT_QPA_PLATFORM set.

One concern was /usr/share/glvnd/egl_vendor.d/50_mesa.json file is part of mesa. But it should be installed at least when installing qt6-wayland.

My only concern is non nvidia users or people not having Vulkan stuff installed. Do they need the fix or can it even break things for them?
I'd recommend some poor "lsmod | grep -q nvidia && echo apply fix"

Are we sure every Nvidia+Wayland+Cura is broken without patching?

@sausix: Thanks for sharing that- I've updated the package to include the workaround on wayland, at least in theory. I don't have any boxed with nvidia cards, so would it be possible to confirm that the fixed version works?

Thanks!

Found a workaround for the Wayland/xwayland issue and posted here: https://github.com/Ultimaker/Cura/issues/18891#issuecomment-2083484534

Anyone got Cura running on wayland (Nvidia+KDE)? On pure wayland only the menus are rendered but not the bed view and the model.
On xwayland (QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb) I'm facing a lot of flickering as in other xwayland apps. xorg-xwayland-explicit-sync-git installed but does not fix problems in Cura.

Can confirm the issue on X11 + xmonad as well.

  • Passing the file as an argument eventually fails with "Failed to load..."
  • Drag&drop from a graphical file manager works, after a delay
  • "Open File(s)" works with --platformtheme gtk3 but subject to the same delay

Running the AppImage directly does not improve things.

saliherdemk commented on 2024-04-05 20:13 (UTC)

@prurigro Yes, it is. And delay is super annoying. It gives to following warning : (UltiMaker-Cura:128927): WARNING **: 20:06:48.022: atk-bridge: get_device_events_reply: unknown signature . I'm using hyprland with installed xdg-desktop-portal-hyprland in case if it's related.

@saliherdemk: Can you let me know if this is still required in 5.7.0?

To solve the "Open File(s)" crash issue, run the cura with spesified platformtheme: $ cura -platformtheme gtk3. There is a delay when uploading the first STL file, but subsequent file uploads proceed smoothly without any delays or issues. No idea why and should be fixed though.

@Finn10111 I managed to open the file by passing its absolute path from command line: $ cura "$PWD"/model.stl.

@dimich same for me.. just nothing happens. Not even any error occurs when I open Cura from the command line. Any news on this one?
