Ok, I think I just fixed the issue: the installer script wasn't running on upgrade.

@jaredledvina what generates them is /opt/datadog-agent/embedded/bin/installer which runs after you install the package (with the arguments "postinst datadog-agent deb").

If it didn't run maybe there's some bug... maybe if you upgraded from a version that did install the service file this doesn't run? In that case try uninstalling and reinstalling instead of upgrading.

Thanks of maintaining this albertvaka! I see you mentioned in your last comment " systemd unit files no longer come in the package but instead are generated by a program that runs after the package is installed". What generates them? After installing, I'm not seeing the typical datadog-agent.service file on my machine.

Updated to 7.71.2. Note that in this version the systemd unit files no longer come in the package but instead are generated by a program that runs after the package is installed. This is a change made upstream at Datadog. Please report if there are any issues because of this :)

It looks like the package is not updated with the latest releases of the agent.

Would it be possible to update it to the latest version ? It's currently 7.67.0 https://github.com/DataDog/datadog-agent/releases

I'm seeing this when I attempt to install it:

If you have problems building this package, try importing the latest Datadog GPG key:
