I have the same error as txtsd during package build. Resolve is not running, I'm not sure this is linked to this error.

ampayne's method doesn't work anymore in the new package

@Smoerrebroed I also tried just creating a libs folder, which does get the installer to proceed, but is not the source of the problem. The problem is that the step where the installer builds and copies over these files was accidentally commented out. Creating more folders for the next steps won't fix that issue.

Check out my solution below, though I think the maintainer updated the build file just recently with this fix (though I haven't tried the latest build myself, and they seem to additionally comment out the line below it, I am not sure if that line is needed).

Also ran into the failed to create symbolic link 'libs/libcrypto.so.10' error. Solution was to add folder 'libs' to the array in line 112 of the PKGBUILD, but now I get an error for share/default-config.dat (not found). Gotta go, but something tells me this package wasn't tested before release ...

Thanks ampayne! it worked!

ln: failed to create symbolic link 'libs/libcrypto.so.10': No such file or directory ==> ERROR: A failure occurred in package(). Aborting... Finished with result: exit-code Main processes terminated with: code=exited/status=4

I think this is a recent bug introduced when updating the ./${_installer_binary} --appimage-extract command. The line above it was accidentally commented out.

You can get around the issue by running

yay -S davinci-resolve --edit-menu

When it asks you if you want to edit the build files, indicate yes for davinci-resolve and scroll down and uncomment the following line:

# ./${_installer_binary} -i -y -n -a -C "${pkgdir}/opt/${_pkgname}"

Save this and the next file and proceed with the installation. Everything after that worked.

can someone explain how to fix this?

@ponies thanks for the tip. I copied the desktop file (DaVinciResolve.desktop) to /usr/share/applications and it worked. I'm assuming that the maintainer of this package @satriani would need to modify the PKGBUILD file so anyone in future installing this package from aur would not need to make all of these manual adjustments? thanks again
