psltn, I'm not sure what you mean. You are supposed to cd into the cloned directory, deadbeef-git in this case, before running makepkg.

I just re-cloned the repo and it is building fine

psltn commented on 2018-01-26 16:49

Hello. The build is giving me this error: make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop. Only cd'ing into the deadbeef-git directory and executing makepkg -si I could build the package.

Soukyuu commented on 2017-10-24 18:05

I've attempted to update the PKGBUILD basing on the stable one, hopefully no dependencies broke. Compiles fine here. Now both gtk2 and gtk3 are makedepends, as well as optdepends.

jadenPete commented on 2017-10-05 00:28

GTK3 is working perfectly for me on stable, can it be enabled?

laichiaheng commented on 2017-10-03 16:12

Why do you disable gtk3?

Klyachkivsky commented on 2016-06-01 03:53

How to modify the PKGBUILD , to disable pulseaudio ?

Soukyuu commented on 2016-03-13 21:13

Updated it, thanks for pointing it out.

Alad commented on 2016-03-09 21:41

You should quote $srcdir and $pkgdir, so it won't break on directories with spaces.

Soukyuu commented on 2015-03-16 23:57

As far as I know, GTK3 currently has some regressions which break some functionality (encoder dialog? also reading something about corrupted text display). Personally, I'm against enabling it per default, as the GTK2 version seems to be what the devs primarily work with.

The way Arch chooses to be or not be bleeding edge is still quite confusing to me. We do have packages that are kept on a non-latest version because of issues they cause (libtorrent-rasterbar for example). On the other hand, there are packages that were updated even though they are known to be buggy (kbookmarks), so I'm not sure about the exact guidelines on that.

rdoursenaud commented on 2015-03-16 08:09

Since Arch Linux is all about bleeding edge software, shouldn't this package compile the GTK 3 version?

Soukyuu commented on 2015-03-15 16:46

I've adopted the package for the time being.
- added jansson as new required dependency
- ffmpeg is now enabled per default

PerfectGentleman commented on 2015-03-13 03:14

I am abandoning the package as don't use Arch on desktop.

Soukyuu commented on 2015-03-12 18:52

Just tested, not a make, but a runtime dependency. This is probably used for the new title formatting (as foobar2000), which is great news personally :D

Soukyuu commented on 2015-03-12 18:23

It seems there is a new (make?) dependency, jansson

configure: error: Package requirements (jansson) were not met:
No package 'jansson' found

PerfectGentleman, regarding your disabling ffmpeg in the PKGBUILD because of author's recommendation... I suppose you are basing your 2014-07-03 04:04 answer on <>.

May I point out that it is a 2.5 year-old bug? Things have changed *a lot* in the meantime and the ffmpeg plugin works fine today (in fact great, it is the only way to play back opus/amr/amw files in deadbeef). On the other hand, the GTK3-based plugins broke with the new 3.14 release so keeping gtk3 disabled is fine.

PerfectGentleman commented on 2014-07-03 04:04

author's recommendation

Soukyuu commented on 2014-07-02 19:32

What's the reasoning behind setting --disable-ffmpeg in PKGBUILD?

fluxboxer commented on 2014-03-12 00:23

Solved; thank you.

PerfectGentleman commented on 2014-03-12 00:15

@qanjaro, try now or the problem is on your side.

Maybe a git checkout devel is appropriate as well.

Cloning for that URL seems awfully slow, this (as found on the sf project page) is much faster:

git:// deadbeef

Hi, I have several compilation errors.
Where can I find a deadbeef package that plays ape files ?

See last commits on lxde branch, they are too old.

'yasm' added to makedepends for building 'ffap' plugin

Anonymous comment on 2012-03-02 17:37

Hello. Please, add "yasm" to dependencies. This need to build it with "ffap plugin" (Monkey's Audio decoder).

Anonymous comment on 2011-12-04 15:32

Could you please add "provides=('deadbeef')" or "provides=('deadbeef=0.5.1')" so it can work with deadbeef-plugins-* which depend on deadbeef?

does this have the jack-plugin included?

Wrong repository, see comment from the deadbeef developer below:

ah, i see what the problem is. this PKGBUILD builds deadbeef from LXDE
repository, which is used by translators.

./configure: line 20965: `IT_PROG_INTLTOOL(0.40.0)'

Anonymous comment on 2010-05-26 04:55

you should put intltool in the depends

knedlyk commented on 2010-05-24 09:47

git clone git://
cd deadbeef
git checkout --track -b l10n origin/i18n

gives you deadbeef tree with the translation files.

Anonymous comment on 2010-05-21 17:39

With this PKGBUILD you can build current unstable version of deadbeef. Git have 3 branches - master (like deadbeef-git), devel (like this) and bsd. With this package you'll have more features, but it can work bad.

sotrud_nik commented on 2010-05-21 01:54

What the difference is between this and deadbeef-git? See:

need pkgconfig to compile
