You should quote $srcdir and $pkgdir, so it won't break on directories with spaces.

As far as I know, GTK3 currently has some regressions which break some functionality (encoder dialog? also reading something about corrupted text display). Personally, I'm against enabling it per default, as the GTK2 version seems to be what the devs primarily work with. The way Arch chooses to be or not be bleeding edge is still quite confusing to me. We do have packages that are kept on a non-latest version because of issues they cause (libtorrent-rasterbar for example). On the other hand, there are packages that were updated even though they are known to be buggy (kbookmarks), so I'm not sure about the exact guidelines on that.

Since Arch Linux is all about bleeding edge software, shouldn't this package compile the GTK 3 version?

I've adopted the package for the time being. - added jansson as new required dependency - ffmpeg is now enabled per default

I am abandoning the package as don't use Arch on desktop.

Just tested, not a make, but a runtime dependency. This is probably used for the new title formatting (as foobar2000), which is great news personally :D

It seems there is a new (make?) dependency, jansson configure: error: Package requirements (jansson) were not met: No package 'jansson' found

PerfectGentleman, regarding your disabling ffmpeg in the PKGBUILD because of author's recommendation... I suppose you are basing your 2014-07-03 04:04 answer on <https://code.google.com/p/ddb/issues/detail?id=812>. May I point out that it is a 2.5 year-old bug? Things have changed *a lot* in the meantime and the ffmpeg plugin works fine today (in fact great, it is the only way to play back opus/amr/amw files in deadbeef). On the other hand, the GTK3-based plugins broke with the new 3.14 release so keeping gtk3 disabled is fine.
